Client: The Well · Project type: Logo, branding, and marketing

Project Overview

The Well is a young adult Bible study group that meets weekly at Redeemer Community Church in Little Rock, AR. I serve on its team as a graphic designer, and was tasked with creating a logo. Since the group is comprised of mainly people in their 20s and 30s, I wanted the design to have more of a millennial aesthetic. I also felt that any promotional materials should reflect the nature of Redeemer itself; it’s a smaller congregation, so overly eye-catching or graphic elements would seem out of place.

Logo

I wanted the logo itself to be versatile, which meant that the illustration element needed to be easily identifiable as a well, without the text. I liked the overall effect of a single-line design, but it was too confusing in practice. I toyed with the idea of simply using a bucket, but I felt that strayed to far from the meaning of the name.

The final design is more simplistic, while keeping an element of youthfulness. The blue shades are neutral enough to have wide appeal, and gave me freedom to experiment with the overall color palette.
